Slow Bloom Coffee Cooperative is born from the efforts of Augie’s Union, a collective of coffee workers allied with UE. We are mothers and fathers, family and friends; every one of us a passionate individual committed to our communities and the people we serve. In response to our unionization efforts, management of Augie’s Coffee illegally laid off its workers, leaving a void in our lives and our communities.
But we have determined to coalesce and rebuild. In our commitment to each other and our communities, we have banded together to form Slow Bloom Coffee Cooperative, a point of connection for all of us to grow and heal from the harm of life. We cannot do this by returning to business as usual or simply replacing what was lost. Instead, our cooperative seeks to make a radical shift towards a brighter vision of what a business can do, one in which the people of our community are valued over profit.
Similarly, we cannot do this without your love and support. Thank you for your time, your voices, your resources, and your encouragement. We look forward to a future where we can be together again.
